Just letting everyone know I'm open for commissions.  I had this idea,  in my recent drawing of Danny, I changed the hue of the ref I used and added the white star to match the horse he was representing.  I know I can do this with other fictional characters too!  So I thought I would offer this to you guys!  I can draw your harpg horses, Nordies, Famies, or any breed and draw it like a realistic portrait like my recent drawings!  More natural markings are prefered but I'm not opposed to considering other patterns.  So if anyone is interested in ordering a realistic traditional drawing of a beloved character, just note me or email me! (I'd get the email faster)  The drawing will be mailed to you for your enjoyment.  If you'd like more information, just sent me a message!

Follow my WIPS, watch video clips, keep updated about commission openings!!  And just general horse art chat!  This site will be for my traditional works and getting to know you guys more on a personal level, I love talking to people, so if you like my page and if you ever leave comments, I'll respond!  Of course I do here as well-but over there, who knows, I might just have to friend you too! :D

My latest portrait commission!  I had a series of small refs to use for him so he's not as detailed but I was going for the "gentlemanly" expression his owner said he had. :D    Commissions are always open!  Just zip me an email for more information!  abigail.baines@gmail.com

Carrigan and Missy by sVa-BinaryStar
Carrigan and Missy
A commission done for a local businessman as a Christmas gift for his wife. :D  Brownie points for him on Christmas day!  If I had a husband and he bought me art it would be an instant win for me!   The far horse is the mother to the front horse and both horses are owned by a Mother and daughter. So sweet!  I always love the story behind what portrait drawings mean to their owners.  They might just look like a random horse portrait but they are usually so much more.  I feel so privileged to know somewhat of the story behind the lives of each of the horses and the people that love them.

Not too late to get Christmas gifts from me!  I have gift cards available for pre purchase you could get for the horse lover in your life.  I won't be able to complete the drawing in time for Christmas but with a gift certificate they can contact me whenever they are ready and we can begin their timeless portrait.

Another portrait gift for a friend!  This little guy was close to 30 years old before he passed and was another horse I knew a long time ago.  I can't believe I could even find his picture on my computer still.  Done for his owner for Christmas.

There's still plenty of time to get an order in if you would like a portrait drawn!  Just send me a note or email me at abigail.baines@gmail.com

JayJay by sVa-BinaryStar
JayJay
Sadly JayJay Jet Plane, the miniature in this drawing, suffered from a freak accident and had to be put down this passed week.  This drawing was a gift for the little girl who owned him and was given to her on her birthday.  A few days later, during her birthday party Jay was kicked in the leg breaking it through all the way.  The party was rushed inside while the vet was outside putting him down.  Such a freak chance of events and I'm just so glad we have pictures of him and now a portrait done of him, even though the little girl keeps it facing the wall right now because she can't bare to look at him.  This is why it's so important to have good pictures of our pets before they go, and even more special to have artwork done of them.  Keeps them with us a little longer.

Commission work for a local friend.  This is her Miniature horse who has suffered from nerve damage in the face and is a rescue.  She's taken him in and teaching him to drive at the show level. He's super sweet and only 4 years old. So glad for people like that who take in unwanted animals and give them a second chance!

By the way, if anyone else is interested in a portrait commission such as this, I am open!  Just send me a note, email me at abigail.baines@gmail.com or message me on my facebook page at Abigail Baines-Equine Artist.  Thanks guys!  Enjoy!

Thank you for your comments on my Journal. You can see my facebook page at www.facebook.com/capturedinpencil.

If you havent already done so, you need to get out there locally. Its good to focus on one subject, as you have with the equine world, so focus on getting some posters up at your local vets, stables and horse training grounds. Pick a favorite drawing that demonstrates what you offer and have that on your poster.

Set up a Facebook page (not a personal profile) for people to visit, and a website. The website needs to be simple and to the point. I use weebly, its easy to use and free!

If I could offer one bit of advise (or opinion) I think you need to have a clearer pricing structure. Saying you would 'like' to charge 'x' amount and it may cost 'y' doesnt sound too appealing if I was looking to get a commission done. Just a thought :) (Smile)
